- French worksheet - homophones
- In science we watched a video on structures and I asked the students to hypothesize which form/shape they thought was the strongest and WHY? - Please research/lookup which shape is the strongest and compare with the answer/reasons you thought - be prepared to share your findings in class tomorrow
- In math we are continuing to work on problem solving involving multiplication. We started discussing the connection between multiplication and division. For example: 4x5=20 and 20/5=4

- For those who are just starting out, please continue to practice/review the multiplication table

Good Afternoon,
I hope everyone had a good long weekend.
- Our new library day has changed to DAY 5 (which is tomorrow - Wednesdays until Easter break)
- Reading
- In social studies we completed our timeline of major world events to give the students an idea of when certain things happened in the world.
- In Math, we are continuing to work on multiplication (and division). We are working on word problems and pulling out the important information. Please continue to review the multiplication table
- Today in science we talked about different structures that we use in our everyday life - we also talked about size, shape and function - included examples how how heavy a load an object can hold

- Music test coming up soon (more info to follow)
- Review / practice multiplication table up to 7x7 (which is the grade 3 expectation)
- We will be practicing different multiplications however the students will ONLY be assessed
up to 7x7 -Those students who have a good grasp of the multiplication concept will be given opportunities to work on other types of questions, however they need to be mindful and respectful
that not all students are currently at the name place.
- In Science we started talking about structures - we discussed that a structure must be
STABLE, DURABLE, SOLID, have a SHAPE and a FUNCTION
- Please review these concepts and think of some examples - can you make any personal connections? structures around the world you have visited?
- In social studies we will be focusing on life in Canada from 1780-1850 - Today we did a class activity and we went over a timeline of world events and inventions to give the students an idea of when things took place

- Apologies for Fridays post - REPORT CARDS will be going home on THURSDAY FEB 14th NOT TOMORROW - WEDNESDAY
- Please remember to send the proper winter clothes for your child - I'm seeing kids outside without hats and gloves (snow pants)
Tomorrow we will be going to the library - please return any books that you may still have
-Our next unit in science will for structures and mechanisms - Can you think of a famous structure that is still standing after a really long time? why do you think it's still standing?
- In math we are working on multiplication and division (which is basically skip counting)

- Next week we will be having CARNIVAL activities all week (in the afternoons)
Please make sure your child is well dressed and prepared for outdoor activities with the appropriate clothing
- Monday I will also continue some assessments with students in specific areas.
- Report cards will be going home on Wednesday
- Monday we will be starting our new math unit - Geometry test was completed today and will be handed back early next week
- New science unit is Structures and Mechanisms - What is a structure? What structures do you already know?

- Monday we will begin our new unit in Math - Number Sense and Numeration - Multiplication and Division
- Tomorrow I will be starting some mini assessments / conversations with students who received a slip of paper from me. Please review your subject specific notes or come to class with a list of questions - I will sit down one-on-one with these students.
- Today we had an intro into the indigenous people with one of our teacher librarians. Ask your child to tell you about some of the legends that were discussed. Some connections were made to other cultures and colours, festivals etc.
- I will be handing back a social studies rubric today with 3 assignments / assessments
- Those students who have completed all 3 assignments have their rubric to be signed, as all 3 are on one sheet - if your child did not get the rubric its because they are missing an assignment and will have time tomorrow to complete it in class - they have seen the other 2 marks
